Welcome to Find A Tech
This site is a long time desire of mine. I now have the resources to be able to share some of my circuit designs with you. This site will have circuits mainly for Home Automation using Pics, USB, and Site Player products.
I would like to thank all of the people on the internet that have designed, built and published circuits. I have learned from what they have shared. The internet has become a wonderful resource tool. As I experiment with different circuits, one of my main tools is my computer. Google, Webrings and all the other resources for documents on the internet are almost endless. Now I have a chance to do the same for others.

| After SitePlayer Issues, A Switch To Xport |

Well I have been having issues with my Siteplayers locking up on me after transmitting a string of either UDP, or TCP broadcasts. I never got much help from the users on line. They said to shorten the strings or hard reset the SitePlayer after each boradcast, Nuts on that...
So I started to look around and found the Xport, Tom Igoe has a lot of examples of the Xport as well as the SitePlayer. The Xport is easier to program than the SitePLayer, but the Xport does lack in the Web portion of the TCPIP stack.
So, For plain transmission of TCP, UDP I use Xport and were I need a web presence I use a SitePlayer

I can now supply you with gerber files for most of the projects on this web page. I have chosen www.batchpcb.com to build my boards so the gerber files you request will be in a format that the people at batchpcb can translate and operate on.
The cost of processing the boards is very good at batchpcb, however if your in a big hurry you better find someone else. They wait till they have a whole panel to etch.
So if you see a circuit on this page you would like to have a board for contact me by email bsnedek@gmail.com and I'll send you a zip with all of the necessary files.

Those of you out there that experiment with little RF transceivers. Know about the noise that is a constant on the receivers. Well I have found a neat little circuit that will remove a lot of the noise, not all but a lot.
This noise issue hit me when I was trying to use an interrupt on a pic. I was feeding the output of the receiver to B0 on the pic and trigger an interrupt when data was received. Well that, didn't work at all. To this day even with a good filter circuit I wouldn't do that again.
Any way here is the schmo, and board layout.

| The Finished Current Sensor |

Here is the completed current sensor circuit. I have also included a board layout for one of the schmo's. Some one asked me awhile back about an analog circuit to measure current. I have included that as well. You will have to do all of the current to voltage calibrations.
The board layout is a 1" by 2" board if you set the adobe to display at 100% you should be able to print the layout to the correct size.

brad writes "I'd like to thank Alan Firth for this neat circuit. I have been tring to figure out a way to monitor my well pump with my home automation software. After asking Alan if he had any ideas he sent me this circuit.
The main component is the CR3110 coil from CR Magnetics. It has a split core so you just clamp it over your load wire. There are no comparators that have to be biased, and it works well for the current range my pump runs at 10-12 amps.
Please be very careful messing around in your breaker panel, and as usual You do this work at your own risk..

| Basic SitePlayer Circuit Is Done |

brad writes "I'll bet you thought I forgot! Well I didn't, its done, it works, and when used with Homeseer and the addon HSCommander its a dream come true for home automation.
This circuit took awhile, this is version 2 of the circuit, and I'll even throw in some of the code in the code sheet section of downloads.
There is a circuit in downloads that detects motion and air temp then sends the data via RF to the SItePlayer circuit. The pic setsup a UDP packet in SitePlayer then tells SitePlayer to send the UDP message to my Homeseer server and executes the command.
So for the whole package look for both circuits and code sheets. RF Motion and Temp and Siteplayer to Pic.

brad writes "Ok, Here are the basic documents for Siteplayer These documents are just the start. I have a working circuit I built that combines a Siteplayer module with a pic. This circuit works, but I am still in the testing phase of the design. Until I get the serial comunication tight I won't publish the circuit. I do however have a link to a great site in the links section of this web page. On this site they have sample circuits and sample code. I have choosen to use the UDP protocol. for my comunication between the Siteplayer and my server.

| 4 Channel 12vac Landscape Lighting Controller |

brad writes "Here is a neat little circuit I built long ago. I wanted to be able to control my 12v landscape lighting. I couldn't find much on the internet so I decided to build something for myself. It can be easily upgraded to 8 channels. I use 4 becouse of the size of my yard. I have several of these devices in use. I think the hardest part was finding an inexpensive transformer to handle the load. I have experience in Triacs be warned to never go above half of their rated current. Supply good heat sink practices, and make sure the pc board traces are large enough to supply the current. Never apply 120vac to this circuit its not designed for it. | New Downloads Added In Pic Interface |

Anonymous writes "I have added a new circuit and acouple of new interface manuals. The TW523 was, and still is the standard that other X-10 interface modules are based. I started with the TW523 but have recently switched to the Smarthome PowerLincII serial controller for my remote circuits. The PowerLincII will not only emulate a Tw523, it will also send and receive X-10 commands in serial format as well. It can also supply a small 12vdc voltage that can be used to power your devices.
